This is a katana made by Muneshige, a Gendaito smith from Chikuzen province, dated January, Heisei 2 (1990). Muneshige, whose real name is Kojo Shigeaki, is known for his sharp blades and is famous as the author of the legendary 'Sasatsuyu' (Dew on Bamboo Grass). The blade comes with a black lacquered uchigatana koshirae and is suitable for iai and tameshigiri.

We could not find an authenticity certificate on the seller’s listing. Japanese swords and fittings are normally papered by the NBTHK (or the NTHK).
