This is a katana by Kurihara Akihide, made in Showa 19 (1944) at Soubudai. Kurihara Akihide was a significant figure in the revival of Japanese swords, having trained many smiths including Living National Treasures. The blade features a beautiful balance, fine ko-itame hada, and gunome-midare hamon with kinsuji and sunagashi, showing his skill in Bizen-den and Soshu-den styles.
