NihontoWatchNihontoWatch古刀匠や古甲冑師鐔のような平坦な地造りの地面に、浅い鋤彫を施して山水や洛中を想わせる風景を大胆に意匠したのが、鎌倉彫に似ていることから鎌倉鐔と呼ばれる味わい深い鐔。桃山頃の作と考えられ、古調な地鉄と大らかで新たな景観を見出そうとしている鐔工の美意識が窺え、数奇者も多い一類である。松と梅を描いたこの鐔は、特に地鉄が優れて緊張感がある。わずかに横長である点が時代の上がる要素。

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
