NihontoWatchNihontoWatch独特の鋤彫技法を駆使し、素描のような簡素な構成で山水風の図柄を全面に配した鐔が、その彫法から鎌倉(かまくら)鐔と呼ばれている味わい格別の作である。製作の時代背景は、鐔の文様が進化を深めつつある桃山時代。古刀匠鐔や古甲冑師鐔のような薄手の鉄地にごく浅い鋤彫が特徴となっている。この鐔も、京洛に取材したと思われる塔に橋、遠く山の端に東屋なども窺え、雅な景色としている。ここに大胆にも勝虫を透かし施しているのが大きな魅力。鉄味も鎌倉鐔の中では錆び込みが少なく質の良さが際立っている。 特別保存刀装具鑑定書(鎌倉)

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
