This katana is signed by Nagahiro, a student of Kaga Suke Sukenaga, a representative smith of the Bizen Osafune school in the late Edo period. While he excelled in his master's gunome-choji style, he later produced powerful jigane and hamon as seen in this work. The blade is dated Bunkyu 3rd year (1863) and was made in Nagato Province.
