About the maker
Oei-Bizen Yasumitsu康光
This is a Juyo Token designated tachi by Yasumitsu, a master smith of the early Muromachi period Bizen school, often called 'Oei Bizen' alongside Morimitsu. Dated Kakitsu 3rd year (1443), it is a rare, long example of his work, showing a vibrant hada with mokume mixed with itame, and a hamon featuring gunome with chōji and squared gunome. The blade is exceptionally healthy for its age, making it a masterpiece among Yasumitsu's extant works.
