This antique Katana is signed by Kashu Katsumitsu, active during the late Muromachi period (1521-1528) in Kaga province. The blade features a beautifully preserved signature despite being shortened, and comes with a complete koshirae mounting and shirasaya. It is certified as Hozon Token by the NBTHK, confirming its authenticity and artistic value.

Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
