NihontoWatchNihontoWatch蔓草が無限に伸びてゆくように枝垂れた細枝を連続させ、まさに唐草文のように萩を表現した鐔。縦一直線に打ち施された魚子地は、粒の並びが綺麗に揃って緩みなく、これも無限の広がりを暗示している。特徴的な葉はくっきりとした高彫に金の色絵で、光沢の強い銀の露象嵌が散し配されて一際鮮やか。しなやかな曲線からなる枝は銀の線象嵌で、その先端の花穂は銀と素銅の点象嵌。文様美が追求されている。会津金工の名流松村勝成の作と極められている。

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
