This is a certified 'Tokubetsu Kicho Shiryo' (Special Precious Material) iron russet kabuto with 24 plates and an accompanying iron russet menpo, both signed by Myochin Munenao, dating to the mid-Edo period. Myochin Munenao is known to have several smiths under this name, with this piece attributed to a later generation active during the mid-Edo period. Both the kabuto and menpo are finely forged and bear the signature of the maker.
