This is an elegant tanto made by Fujiwara Sukesada of the Bizen-Osafune school during the early Edo period (Shinto). It comes with an NBTHK Hozon certificate and is mounted in a complete aikuchi koshirae with an insect theme (mushi-zukushi). The blade shows a clean, well-developed temper line and a compact, homogeneous forging.
