Edo Period Tanto for Sale
Tanto production fell sharply in the Edo period — the peaceful order had little use for the dagger — which makes genuine Edo tanto a quieter, more selective field than their Koto ancestors. What was made often served ceremony and rank, in refined mounts, with the Shinshinto revival adding vigorous late examples. Scarcity within an otherwise abundant era gives these pieces a particular collecting interest.
