NihontoWatchNihontoWatch京献上は無銘の物がほとんどで古正阿弥系から枝分かれしたものであろう。鉄地、丸形に梅花、桜花、松、城閣等を一面に金布目象嵌を施した華やかな出来のものが多く、雅の文化を偲ばせます。 江戸初期から江戸後期まで長きに流行を見せ、製作地も京、大阪、江戸と全国的に流布したものと考えられます。 この鐔は鉄地に八ツ橋を透し彫りとし、金象嵌にて菖蒲を一面に表した優品です。

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
