This katana is signed by Seiryushi Moritoshi, a swordsmith from Suou province, active in the late Edo period. Dated 1842, it features a unique unokubi-zukuri construction with a flat lower half and an iori-mune. The blade has intricate carvings including Sanskrit characters and a kurikara dragon on the omote, and Sanskrit characters with lotus pedestals on the ura. It comes with koshirae and shirasaya, and is accompanied by an NBTHK Hozon paper.
