Description

This is an unsigned tsuba attributed to Hayashi Tohachi, the third generation of Hayashi Matashichi. It features a slightly small design with a sukashi (openwork) motif of Yatsuhashi (eight bridges) and kakitsubata (iris). The iron has a distinctive 'yokan-iro' color and luster, characteristic of Tohachi's work.
