This is an iron tsuba featuring a scattered fan design (Hasen Chirashi Zu), signed by Masatsune of the Bushu Ito school. It was made in Musashi province during the middle Edo period, around the Kyoho era (1716-1736). The tsuba is certified Hozon by the NBTHK and is a representative work of the Bushu Ito school, which flourished as tsuba makers for the Tokugawa Shogunate.
