Hayashi Shigemitsu, Edo period (1652-1729) 7.644 cm x 7.38 x 5,5 mm. Excellent color and condition. He was the son of Hayashi Matashichi, second master of the Hayashi school. Ref. Haynes, H.08343.0; Nihon Toso Kinko Tai Jiten, Vol III, page 294; Higo Kinko Taikan pages 78 - 117; Toso KodoguMeiji Taisei Vol III, page 294. A classic Hayashi crane design, which is also found in early Akasaka. Lacking the laminations would seem to rule out consideration of Akasaka. Higo Kinko Taikan Nihon Toso Kinko Tai Jiten, Vol III

We could not find an authenticity certificate on the seller’s listing. Japanese swords and fittings are normally papered by the NBTHK (or the NTHK). Without one, the attribution is the seller’s own assessment and has not been independently verified — treat it with caution and ask the dealer about certification before buying.
