Hashimoto Masanari was from Sekiyado in Shimousa Province. He was an Edo kinko of the mid-Edo period. This work features a design of a horse standing under cherry blossoms in full bloom. Finished on a tetsu-ji with a calm color tone, the patterns emerge gently through sukidashibori; the trunk, the arrangement of the branches, and the cherry blossoms exude elegance, while the horse conveys a presence despite its modesty. A tsuba possessing both simplicity and refinement.

We could not find an authenticity certificate on the seller’s listing. Japanese swords and fittings are normally papered by the NBTHK (or the NTHK). Without one, the attribution is the seller’s own assessment and has not been independently verified — treat it with caution and ask the dealer about certification before buying.
