Kogai for Sale

The kogai is a slender skewer-like implement carried in a pocket of the Japanese sword scabbard, opposite the kozuka. Together with the kozuka and a matching pair of menuki it forms the mitokoromono — the three coordinated fittings of a formal mounting. Often worked in shakudo with gold inlay by makers of the Goto and other leading schools, the kogai is a refined canvas for miniature metalwork and a quietly sought-after category of tosogu.
