This is a tanto by Kanesada from Mino province, late Muromachi period (1504). The blade features a suguha hamon with koshiba, itame jigane, and ohmaru boshi. It comes with a koshirae with tea-colored ishimeji saya and a shirasaya, and is accompanied by a NBTHK Hozon Token certificate.

Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit.
