NihontoWatchNihontoWatch正宗が完成させた相州伝は南北朝期から室町初期に旺盛を極め、広光や広正などの名工が続く。他の伝法と比べ高い技術を要すると言われる相州伝。その影響力は他流派をも巻き込み、備前の長義や山城の来国光など数多くの鍛冶が相州伝を取り入れ、また江戸時代になっても真改や清麿などの有名刀工らがこの伝法で自身の技術力を試している。 本作は稀少な隆広の短刀で室町中期ごろに活躍。平造りの表裏には不動明王の梵字を入れている。刃文は元から中央までが小乱れに飛焼きが入り、先に進むにつれ皆焼風となって複雑な動きで見飽きない。地鉄はよく練れた板目肌で、帽子は乱れ込んで返りは深い。茎は生ぶで錆色も良く、典型的な相州物を楽しめる。写真ではあまり写り込まないが物打ちに鍛え疵があるも皆焼掛かるためさほど目立たない。 合口拵はかなり時代が上がり、鞘は補修跡も見られるが金蒔絵で紋を散らして豪華な仕立て。出鮫は新たに巻き直して蝶の丸目貫で華を添え、小柄は赤銅七々子地三井晩鐘図。上品で稀少な拵は飾り映えする。 上作刀工。特別保存刀剣鑑定書附。

A Hozon-certified blade judged to show notably superior workmanship and a better state of preservation. The bar is higher: re-tempered blades and most unsigned Muromachi/Edo works are excluded.
The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
