This is a Tachi by Tora Nyudo, a highly esteemed smith from the early Edo period in Musashi Province. Known as the 'Yokozuna of Shinto in the East,' his works are characterized by strong jigane and bright, clear hamon. This particular piece, dated around Kanbun 11 (1671), exhibits his late-period style with a deep sori, well-forged jitetsu, and a beautiful juzu-ba hamon with kinsuji and sunagashi, making it a rare and valuable example of his work, especially as a tachi.
