Description

This is a Juyo Token designated tanto by Kuniyasu, a student of Horikawa Kunihiro, active in Yamashiro province during the Edo period. It is a long hira-zukuri tanto exceeding 30cm, featuring a robust Keicho Shinto form, with active kinsuji and sunagashi in the hamon, and the distinctive 'zanguri hada' of the Horikawa school. The mei is particularly notable, having been identified by Takashi Iwata as a proxy signature by Kunitsugu, adding significant historical and academic value to the piece.
