This is an aikuchi wakizashi koshirae, likely made to house a Nanbokucho period ko-wakizashi. It features fittings adorned with sacred beast designs, including phoenix, dragon, Genbu, and kirin, executed in high-relief gold painting on a suaka ishimeji ground. The scabbard is finished in a brown ishimeji lacquer, and the hilt is wrapped in black lacquered leather over ray skin, with a design that protects the hand like a tsuba.
