NihontoWatchNihontoWatch鷲田光親は幕末の出羽国を代表する金工の一人。師匠は柳川直光に学んだ実父光時。平象嵌を巧みにする一方、郷土の名工安親に私淑した詩情あふれる作品も製作している。翼を休める鶴を傍らに、やさしい眼差しに、口元は僅かに笑みを浮かべている表情は仙人というよりも好々爺そのもの。深山を遠景に棚引く雲の中に忽然と表れ出でたかのような構図の妙に仙人としての存在感を表現したものであろう。

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
