Katsurano Fumio, who succeeded as the third generation Sekibun, was a pupil of Kano Natsuo. Natsuo excelled at sketching from life and produced realistic works within margins overflowing with a unique poetic sentiment. This work is a piece full of realism that even reproduces textures, reminiscent of his master. Both the loquat and the persimmon are orange fruits, and the color of the suaka base blends well with them. By applying kin-iroe in varying tones to the calyxes and leaves, he attempts a richer, more deep expression within the limited colors of the metallic material.

Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit.
