About the maker
Mishina Yoshimichi吉道
This is a wakizashi made by Yoshimichi, the 3rd generation smith from Kyoto. He received the title of Tanba no Kami in Kanbun 2 (1662) and died in Kanbun 9 (1669), so his production period was only 7 years, making his works rare. This piece showcases the signature suren-ba (reed blade) hamon with ashi and yo, resulting in a well-made blade.
