Nanbokuchō Period Katana for Sale
The Nanbokuchō period (1336–1392) forged the grandest blades in Japanese history — sweeping ōdachi with broad mihaba and extended kissaki. Nearly all that circulate as katana today are ō-suriage: shortened so drastically the signature is lost, their attributions resting largely on the NBTHK’s judgment of workmanship. What the shortening spared is spectacular — the bold hamon and powerful steel of the Soshu line, Chōgi, and Nobukuni, in blades whose scale still dwarfs later work.
