Description

This is a tsuba made by Nishigaki Kanpei of the Nishigaki school in Higo province. It features a tatemarugata (竪丸形) shape, iron with polished surface (鉄磨地), openwork carving (地透), and hair-line carving (毛彫). The tsuba has a maru mimi (丸耳) or round rim.
