The Nioiguchi is bright and clear. 【Boshi】 Midare-komi, ending in a sharp Togari-gokoro with a deep Kaeri. 【Nakago】 O-suriage, Saki-kiri, Yasurime are Kiri. 【Koshirae】 Black Ishime-ji lacquer Saya, Fuchigashira: Shakudo Nanako-ji with autumn insects in Takabori and gold Iro-e. Menuki: Shakudo with dragon motif and gold Iro-e. Tsuba: Iron-ji with openwork. 【Description】 This work is attributed to the Naoe Shizu school, founded by Kaneuji, one of the Masamune Jittetsu (Ten Famous Students of Masamune), who moved from Yamato to Shizu in Mino province. It exhibits a powerful Sugata with a wide Mihaba and O-kissaki. The Hataraki within the Ha is abundant, showing the characteristic Soshu-den influence inherited from the Shizu lineage. It is a masterpiece of great presence.
