This is a tanto by Kanetomo from the Seki school, dating to the late Muromachi period (around the Eiroku era). Kanetomo is said to have been a son or disciple of Shizu Kaneuji, and moved to Seki around the Oei era, specializing in the Shizu style. This smith and his descendants flourished from the Eiroku to Tensho eras, and even into the Edo period.
