This is a tanto made by the swordsmith Kazuhira in the spring of Heisei 2 (1990). Okubo Kazuhira pursued the essence of Japanese swords through the teachings of his master, Miyairi Shohei (later renamed Yukihira, a Living National Treasure), who aimed for the Soshu style. He also worked in the Bizen style, creating flamboyant tachi reminiscent of Ichimonji, and has won numerous awards at the New Swords Exhibition.
