This listing features a tanto by the smith Kazuhira, made in the spring of Heisei 2 (1990). Kazuhira (Okubo Kazuhira) was a student of Miyairi Akihira (later Yukihira, a Living National Treasure) and is known for his pursuit of the essential beauty of Japanese swords, excelling in both Soshu-den and Bizen-den styles. He has received numerous awards at the Shinsaku Meito Ten and was certified as a Mukansa smith in 2000. The tanto is accompanied by koshirae.
