Description

This is a katana by Omi Daijo Fujiwara Tadahiro, the second-generation master of the Hizen school, one of the largest sword-making traditions of the Edo period. Despite being only 19 when his father died, Tadahiro began making swords in 1632 and continued for over 60 years, producing the most works among Hizen smiths. This piece exhibits his typical style with a fine ko-itame hada, abundant ji-nie, and a chu-suguha hamon with deep nioi, thick nie, kinsuji, and sunagashi.
