This is a Koto period katana by Kunishige from the Mizuta school in Bitchu province, dated 1578. It features a strong koshi-zori and a tight, nioi-deki suguha hamon, characteristic of a practical Sengoku period sword. The jigane shows fine ko-itame with nagare-hada near the ha, displaying a rich landscape reminiscent of the Aoe school from the Kamakura to Nanbokucho periods.
