Description

This is a Juyo Token designated tanto by Taima Tomoyuki, active in Yamato Province during the Nanbokucho period. Tomoyuki was a smith of the Taima school, said to be the grandson of Kuniyuki, and his signed works are rare. This piece is signed with a four-character mei 'Taima Tomoyuki', making it a historically valuable example. It boasts a healthy jigane and hamon, with thick ji-nie, active kinsuji and sunagashi, and powerful, deeply carved horimono, showcasing the full charm of the school.
