This is a wakizashi by Matsumura Masanao, a samurai from Higo Kumamoto, active during the late Edo period (Bunsei 3, 1820). It features a well-forged ko-itame hada with thick ji-nie, and a gunome midare hamon with pointed sections, reminiscent of Satsuma Shin-Shinto works. The blade comes with a black ishime-ji saya wakizashi koshirae and a NBTHK Hozon paper.
