Description

This is an unsigned Edo Higo tsuba featuring a chrysanthemum and paulownia arabesque design. The front displays a thunder pattern around the edge with arabesque motifs, paulownia crests, and chrysanthemum petals around the hitsu-ana. The reverse side showcases gold nunome-zogan of seaweed and mist, with rounded koshisuki-bori lines encircling the hitsu-ana, creating a striking contrast between the two sides. The tsuba highlights the attractive qualities of its smooth iron ground.
