This is a robust tsuba from the Momoyama period, featuring a design inspired by famous places in Kyoto. It depicts heavy stone-like masses, complex ropes, and withered trees arranged along the round tsuba's outline using brass inlay. The spaces between these elements are filled with overgrown weeds, evoking a landscape where life and death intertwine, reminiscent of Kyoto's Adashino.
