Description

This tsuba, attributed to the Iwamoto school, depicts bats flying over a waterside scene under a dim moonlight, with reeds swaying. Made of polished iron with sukidashi carving and silver iroe inlay, it dates to the late Edo period. The design is noted for its poetic and refined Edo taste, reminiscent of the work of master Iwamoto Konkan.
