This is a masterpiece katana by Tosa Yoshinari, dating to the Kyohô era (1716-1736) of the Edo period. It exhibits the Osaka Shinto style of his teacher Yoshimichi, with a tight ko-itame hada and a chôji-midare hamon. The blade is accompanied by an attractive koshirae with shakudo nanako fittings and gold-colored dragon motifs, and is housed in a shirasaya.
