Description

This antique Japanese katana is signed by Omi no Kami Hisamichi, believed to be the first generation of the Mishina school, active during the early Edo Period (1650-1673). Hisamichi was granted the honorable title of Omi No Kami in 1662 and was one of the Gokaji (five most prestigious swordsmiths in Kyoto), permitted to inscribe a chrysanthemum emblem on his blades. The sword comes with an NBTHK Hozon Certificate and features a koshirae with an 'Ume ni Uguisu' (Japanese apricot and bush warbler) motif on the menuki and an autumn scenery design on the tsuba.
