Description

This is an unsigned tsuba attributed to Mito, featuring a Kozanekuruma (small plate wheel) design. The design, derived from samurai culture, combines strength and refined aesthetic beauty. Crafted from brass in a tate-marugata (vertical round) shape, it showcases a sukidashi-bori (carved in relief) technique to create radial stepped patterns. Its simple yet balanced composition and subdued color palette evoke a sophisticated sense of beauty. It passed the Hozon Tosogu examination in 2024.
