Description

This antique tsuba set from the late Edo period features two iron handguards exploring the 'Un Mon Zu' motif through contrasting techniques. One tsuba utilizes openwork (sukashi) with irregular openings, while the other expresses similar flowing forms through low- to medium-relief carving. One tsuba is signed 'Shoami Ieshige', though the authenticity of the signature is not guaranteed due to the absence of a certificate.
