This is a Tanto signed by Owari-no-kuni MASAHIDE, a distinguished disciple of the 8th-generation master MASATSUNE, active in the Shin-shin-to period (late Edo). It features a robust Hira-zukuri configuration and a distinct Masame-hada forging pattern. The tanto is accompanied by a practical Yagyū-style Tantō Koshirae with a smoked-leather Katate-maki hilt and is preserved in a Shirasaya with an NBTHK Hozon certificate.
